Evaluation Report on Swayam Project

Abstract

Swayam is a combined project by Animal Husbandry and Tribal Development Department of Maharashtra, aimed at raising the nutrition levels in tribal children along with providing the tribal families a sustainable means of livelihood through distribution of poultry chickens to tribal families. The beneficiary families were expected to sell the eggs to Anganwadis in their villages and thereby meet the nutrition requirement of children and have a means of livelihood for themselves. This evaluation report brings out important aspects of the schemes, the problems faced by the implementing agencies, the experiences of the proposed beneficiaries and charts out recommendations for better implementation of this scheme.
