Keywords: Radio due to its reach and speed is considered as an important medium to communicate news and other audio messages to a large mass of people. radio can be considered as an effective medium to bring these people different programs related to entertainment, current events, government schemes, better agriculture technology, health, science, sports events etc.Ggovernment decided to extend the concept of private radio stations as community radio stations to various government institutions and NGOs. These are basically aimed to broadcast programs to fulfill the requirements of specific cultural or tribal groups of geographically adjacent villages in far flung and remote areas

Abstract: The Vanya Community Radio centre was established in the Government building of forest village Chada, block Bajag district Dindori (MP) on 24th July,2013. It is operated by Disha Welfare Society, Bhopal and has been broadcasting programs for about 10 hours daily (in two shifts) since then. The broadcast tower is in Dadartola, about 1.5 Km away from the main office, and the programs broadcast during the morning shift (7.00 to 12.00 Hrs) is repeated in the afternoon (14.00 to 19.00 Hrs). The broadcast range of the centre is about 15 -20 Kms covering about 20 villages primarily inhabited by extremely weaker section of Baiga and Gond tribes An analytical study was conducted during 2017-18 to by Tribal Research and Development Institute of Bhopal determine the efficacy and usefulness of Vanya Community Radio Centre at Chada. The study concluded that the radio centre is being maintained properly and is following the issued SOPs. The programs are being broadcast in the local language covering a wide variety of topics ranging from current events to Government schemes, entertainment to health, livelihood, and education etc. A survey was also conducted in about 15 villages covering about 120 respondents who agreed that they found the programs interesting and useful. There are also examples of how these radio programs have brought in changes with listeners benefiting socially and economically from the broadcasted programs.
