Abstract: | There is a need to create pressure group at hamlet level to empower the households for effective execution of the programme. The educated youth can be used as pressure group who can raise their stronghold while demanding the benefits. Their active participation in Gram Sabha can reduce the operational challenges while executing the scheme. Maintenance activities undertaken by MGNREGS should ensure adequate labour supply to undertake maintenance activities during the gestation period. The maintenance activities should made compulsory during the entire gestation period. The role of Gram Sabha on the spirit of PESA is needed to execute maintenance activities. Since the PESA members have adequate knowledge about their power in executing various schemes in the village, their involvement can reduce ground level leakages. The households should periodically get information about various developmental changes planned by the state government. The digitalisation of information system, inclusion of beneficiaries, grievance redrasal system, etc. by the state government is a welcome measure. The volunteers recruited at the village level have to inform and facilitate households for effective use of such platforms. There should be some alternative livelihood activities during the gestation period to reduce vulnerability among the tribal due to land remains uncultivated. |
