Abstract

For rural development, the government adopted the financial planning in the year 1951. Starting from the first five-year plan, the government emphasised on the development of the rural economy but not able to achieve the desired outcome from the five-year financial planning. To mitigate this situation, P.V Narasimha Rao government started Panchayati Raj Programme after 73rd constitutional amendment. This study explores the changes in the rural economy after the introduction of Panchayati Raj System.
