Abstract

Written in Assamese language by Dr. Ganesh Pegu, this is a book on the folk as well as oral literature of the Mising tribe of Assam. The book is an outcome of his in depth research on the theme and attempts to document all that the author finds during his research for the book. All throughout the book the author continuously makes effort towards defining and pinpointing the role that culture plays in our lives as well as its value, traversing examples from the field on oral and folk literature. This is an accessible and smart primer that explores Mising verbal art, oral folklore as well as popular and primitive literature in all its glory.
