Abstract: Salinity in the soil is among the abiotic stress that changes the physiological, morphological, biochemical, and even molecular level of the plant which has negative effects on the plant growth and productivity worldwide. Plant Growth Promoting Bacteria are beneficial microorganisms that play an important role in microbial-plant interaction that helps in plant growth and in counteracting the detrimental effects of soil stress. In this study, 50 bacterial isolates were isolated and were subjected to Plant growth-promoting traits test. The selected potential Plant growth-promoting bacteria were screened for their ability to tolerate salt stress and the highest salt tolerance (25%) was observed in BPSR4, BPSR7, BPSR11, BPSE39, and BPSE41. Selected best two isolates were used for the in vivo growth promotion assay in chickpea plant. From all the results, BPSE41 was found to be the best isolate with good plant growth promoting ability and was able to tolerate salt stress.
