Abstract: | Written in Assamese language by Sri Saranan Deori, this novel is a sweeping tale of life of an imaginary Deori lady named as Rongdoi, who is the main protagonist. The book is an endearing and vibrant adventure through the Deori culture and social milieu, explored through the life of Rongdoi and her family who lives in a Deori village named as Chicba Aatigu. Told through the life of the Deori characters set in the novel, it is a true portrait of the Deori community, its culture and society. Through alternating tales of the different characters of the novel, it unravels the Deori rituals, customs and folklore to the reader, and intensely moves on to describe entire specifics of the Deori society. |
