Abstract: | The book entitled Asamar Janajati Sakalar Utsav Anusthan and written in Assamese language gives a detailed description of the festivals celebrated by different tribes of Assam. Assam is known to be a melting pot of different tribes and communities with their distinct culture and tradition. Despite the diversity, harmony prevails till this day .The book contains exhaustive elucidation of the folk festivals of almost 26 tribes or sub tribes of Assam namely, Karbi, Kuki, Tai group, Garo, Zemi, Thengal, Dimasa, Tiwa, Deuri, Bodo, Biate, Hmar, Mising, Rabha, Hrankhol, Rengma, Sonowal, Hajong among many others. It also chronicles pictographic evidences of several folk dances, weaves, traditional attires, art and artifacts of numerous tribes of Assam. The book in its entirety gives a thorough going experience to the reader on tribal culture of Assam. |
