Abstract

This is a collection of folk songs of Rabhas, collected by Rabha Adhyan Chakra of Dudhnoi, compiled and edited by Shri Shobha Ram Rabha, editor of Rabha Adhyan Chakra of Dudhnoi, Goalpara, Assam. Pronay Gondhi comprises of the folk songs that are sung during the Baikhu festival of the Rabhas. Baikhu is an annual festival of the Rabha tribe, which is celebrated to please the Baikhu deity so that she showers her blessings, which in turn will bring prosperity in agriculture, also protect the nature as well as their domesticated animals from sickness and other unforeseen events. The songs that are sung as a part of the celebrations are documented in the form of this book.
