Abstract: | Article 366 (25) defines Scheduled Tribes as - such tribes or tribal communities or parts of or groups within such tribes or tribal communities as are deemed under Article 342 to be Scheduled Tribes for the purposes of this Constitution. Article 342 prescribes the procedure to be followed in a matter of specification of Scheduled Tribes. The report emphasizes brief ethnographic profile of 33 tribes of Andhra Pradesh. The report is comprising the tribal list and District wise Population of Scheduled Tribes of Andhra Pradesh according to 2001 Census. In Andhra Pradesh the Scheduled Tribes is 5024104 constitute 6.59% of the State population. The census reveals that the total 26.47% of STs to total population found in Khammam district followed by Adilabad (16.74%), Visakhapatnam (14.55%). The statistic report provided the Tribe wise population in Andhra Pradesh from 1961 to 2001. This report also mentioned in sex ratio, population growth, Mandal wise demographic details. The Fifth Five Year Plan marked a significant change in the process of tribal development. Introduction on Sub-Plan, Mada Pockets, Cluster and Primitve Tribal Groups aspects are discussed in this report. Scheduled areas in the districts of Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, East Godavari, West Godavari, Khammam, Warnagal, Adilabad and Mahboobnagar and there are no scheduled areas in the other districts. The scheduled are in the state which is the chief habitat of tribal groups of Andhra Pradesh constitutes 11% of the total geographical area of the State. Visakhapatnam District is having highest number of scheduled villages. The ITDA wise number of scheduled and non-scheduled villages also mentioned in this report. the literacy rate among the tribes of Andhra Pradesh is 37.04. The decadal growth rates of ST and general population from 1961 to 2001 in Andhra Pradesh State are presented in the report. Tribe wise, District and Mandal wise, sex wise also literacy rates and educational levels details presented in the report. The report also comprises the district wise number of various Govt. schools for scheduled tribes and their strengths for the year 2006-07. The report also comprising the developmental programmes like agriculture, irrigation, medical and health, infrastructure facilities, GCC. The total Indian tribal data also presented in this statistical report. |
