Abstract: This is an edited book, it shows that the time perspectives and strategies for the development of small tribal communities particularly primitive tribal groups has to be longer. Initially FIRST-AID operation with a PAUSE to allow them to regain their confidence is necessary. In case of isolated communities, the target group has to knowledge and yet is not alienated from its own society. Since the Fifth five year plan, it was recognized that special programmes for the extremely backward or primitive tribal groups should be taken up on the basis of proper identification on the lines suggested by the Shilu AO team (1969). They suggested that State Governments and administrations of Union Territories should make an extent to which each of the tribal communities living in their respective areas had benefited from the tribal development programmes and select on the basis of such a study the really backward communities need special attention. Although many Anthropologists and sociologists have interested to study of primitive tribes, as a proportion of total population size of a group, decreases as the size of the group increases, the absolute number in the case of a large group as compared to a smaller one is larger. Some major suggestions emerging out of the seminar proceedings on strategies for development of primitive tribal groups resulting this edited book, it reveals that more than 16 research papers which regarding various aspects of planning and implementation process for the development primitive tribes and their pockets, rehabilitation, education, nutrition, health and genetic disorders. There are certain primary groups which are being treated with demographic extinction. Some suffer from complete isolation. It is recommended that development programmes suited to their ethos be given top priority. Exclusion of PTGs from any part of their habitat which has been included within a wild life sanctuary should be strongly opposed, both on humanitarian and environmental grounds.
