Abstract: The concept of drawing up a Tribal Sub Plan accounting for all the flows of funds invested in the Integrated Tribal Development Projects was started from 1975 76 by Government of India. ITDP schemes was launched by the Govt of India to give comprehensive support for people belonging to various tribes in the entire range of production, product development, preservation of traditional heritage, support to both forest and agricultural produce of tribal people etc. Accordingly the Planning Commission allocated required fund under ITDP schemes in subsequent years. The I.T.D.Ps were often referred to as T.S.P. Areas scheme and some time the terms T.S.P. and I.T.D.P. were used inter changeably. The ITDP has been one of the major Government initiative in the area of tribal development. Like any other developmental scheme the monitoring and evaluation of the scheme has become a priority to measure its effectiveness and impact.In the conference of the Directorate of The Tribal Research Institutes held in New Delhi, Ministry of Home Affairs on 4th and 5th March, it is decided that The Tribal Research Institutes should take up evaluation studies in their respective states to critically examines program's activities, effectiveness and outcomes. The Tribal Research Institute, Assam was given the responsibility to evaluate the ITDP Kokrajhar. As there was no prevailing methodology for the same the institute itself formulated the parameter to evaluate the scheme in consultation with various stake holders. This report contains the existing findings and measures to improve upon it. The suggestions and recommendations regarding provisions of better infrastructure, development of designs, dissemination of information related to govt initiatives are incorporated.
